Why is HOLINESS offensive to so many?

Why is HOLINESS offensive to so many?

Why do discussions or posts about how the Bible says to live, dress, talk, etc anger some and are avoided by many (even Christians)?

God's Word warns: "HOLINESS, WITHOUT WHICH NO MAN SHALL SEE THE LORD." (Hebrews 12:14)

What does HOLINESS mean?

One site defines HOLINESS as: "commonly defined as being separate or set apart. God is holy in that He is set apart from everything that is not God, and God's people must be holy by being set apart as well."

Focus on the Family defined HOLINESS this way: "Being holy means to live our lives in a way that reflects God's glory, rather than conforming to the ways of the world (Romans 12:1-2). It means that we need to abide by the rules that God laid down for us in the Bible. It takes discipline to do this, and is not always easy."

Romans 12:1-2 admonishes us...

[1]I beseech you therefore, brethren,

by the mercies of God,

that ye PRESENT YOUR BODIES

a living sacrifice,

HOLY, (physically pure, morally blameless)

ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD,

which is your reasonable service.

[2]And BE NOT CONFORMED

TO THIS WORLD:

(Fashion self according to this world)

but BE ye TRANSFORMED

(Make a metamorphosis, a change)

by the renewing of your mind,

that ye may PROVE (examine, discern)

WHAT IS that GOOD,

and ACCEPTABLE,

and PERFECT, WILL OF GOD.

HOLINESS Is about being approved by God, not this world.

HE is the One we are seeking to please and gain the approval of.

BECAUSE... WITHOUT HOLINESS NO MAN SHALL SEE THE LORD. (Hebrews 12:14)

I know it's Memorial Day, but this woke me out of my sleep.  Let us remember not only the sacrifices of our soldiers,  but never forget the ultimate sacrifice and price Jesus paid on Calvary tto purchase our salvation.

1 Corinthians 6:20

[20]For ye are bought with a price:

therefore GLORIFY GOD

IN YOUR BODY,

and IN YOUR SPIRIT,

WHICH ARE GOD'S.
