How Can We Minister to the Lord?

A friend contacted me with a question concerning ministering unto the Lord.  I am posting my thoughts here for future reference:

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but these thoughts came to mind:

1 Cor 7:35 references attending upon the Lord without distraction. In this passage Paul is speaking about marital relationships in the surrounding verses. A spouse can tell when the person is present physically but not present emotionally or mentally. Their thoughts or elsewhere, thinking and caring about other things other than their spouse. Or how you can be together in the same room but with a phone or TV, the person is not really present with their spouse. They're so absorbed and what is going on in the movie or on social media. You have to stop and remove all distractions and spend time together. In the same way we have to spend time with the Lord without distraction.

The other thought that has been going through my mind quite a bit for several years is how we get so focused and wrapped up on God's faithfulness to us and all that God can do for us and what we want Him to do for us but most rarely ever think about what God requires from us or what we can do for Him.  How faithful are we to Him? How much of our time and attention are we giving to Him? Separate and outside of our 'want' and 'need' prayers?

We need to give God attention, loving on and adoring Him in a similar way that we Dore on and shower our children and grandchildren with attention.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for? but those are the thoughts that came to my mind when I read your question.
