Acts 19

In Acts capter 19, Paul came to Ephesus and found some Disciples there. They believed on Jesus.  They loved Jesus.  They were trying to live for Jesus as best they knew how.

Paul asked them, "Have you received the Holy Ghost SINCE  you believed?" (Since means between then and now.)

They answered Paul that they had not even heard whether there was such a thing as the Holy Ghost.

So then Paul asked how they were baptized.

They answered that John the Baptist had baptized them.

Paul explained the Scriptures to them and the need to believe on Jesus. Being baptized was not enough. They had to be re-baptized in the name of Jesus.

WHEN THEY HEARD THIS, THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS.  (vs 5)

After, Paul laid his hands on them and the HOLY GHOST CAME ON THEM; and they SPAKE WITH TONGUES and prophesied.

We find, according to this passage of Scriptures, that believing on Jesus alone is not sufficient.  If it was, Paul would have said great and just went on his way. But Paul explained to them the need to be baptized. And not just baptized anyway but baptized IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

After they were baptized, he didn't leave it as though receiving the Holy Ghost was optional. He laid hands on them, and as the Holy Ghost came on them they SPAKE WITH TONGUES.

Jesus has that same wonderful gift available to you. Come, be baptized in the only name by which we are saved and let Jesus fill you with the Holy Ghost.
